Today’s project was a bit less high-tech than usual.  We took-down the Little Free Library at the end of September to make room for Halloween decorations and noticed that the roof was in exceptionally bad shape.

So before putting it back up and subjecting it to Wisconsin winter, it needed a little work.

I had planned to replace the roof with a solar panel and add a Little Free Charging Station feature to the library, but with loosing almost two weeks to COVID-19 and winter coming fast I decided that project will have to wait until spring.

Instead it was just an old-fashioned tear-off and reshingle job.  I replaced the original plywood with something a little thicker (1/2”) this time, but stuck with the same cedar shake shingles.

The original roof lasted almost ten years so this one should be good for at least that long.

We redistributed all the books that were in there when we took it down but luckily between Jamie and I we polished-off enough books in the meantime to prime the collection.  I’m sure once the neighborhood notices that it’s back up-and-running it will be stuffed with titles again.
