So when I woke-up this morning I was having my coffee & stroopwafel and thinking about how I want to spend this time now that I’m not using it to catch-up on news and such on Facebook.

So here’s the new plan: I’m going to get my news from my feed reader, NetNewsWire. If your not familiar with NNW, it’s an RSS feed reader, and if you’re not familiar with RSS, it’s a free and open way of distributing and subscribing to regularly-updated media like blogs, podcasts, etc. (like this blog, for example).
I have some reading to catch-up on…
RSS is old, and back in the day mainstream news outlets published an RSS feed you could subscribe to, but few do anymore (hard to push ads and paywalls that way I guess?). Fortunately there are some new quality news sources who do, like 404 Media(which I highly recommend subscribing for tech news), and I’ll be on the hunt for more.
What’s awesome about this approach is that I already subscribe to many fun/cool feeds so each day I sit down to catch up on the news it won’t be an endless barrage of horror, but a mix of bad and good (hopefully more good) which is a lot more motivating than the doomscrolling associated with modern news and social websites.
